Pantry Pairings: 3 Steak Sauces You Can Make at Home

You’ve bought the perfect steak—now what? These quick sauces will take it from delicious to unforgettable.

 

🥩 1. Creamy Peppercorn Sauce

 

You’ll need:

  • 1 shallot, finely diced

  • 1 tbsp crushed peppercorns

  • 100ml cream

  • 50ml beef stock

  • Knob of butter

How to make it:

Sauté shallots in butter. Add crushed peppercorns and stock. Simmer 3 min. Stir in cream and reduce until thick.

 

🍷 2. Red Wine & Shallot Jus

 

You’ll need:

  • 1 shallot, sliced

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

  • 150ml red wine

  • 50ml beef stock

  • Butter, salt


How to make it:

Reduce shallots and wine until syrupy. Stir in mustard and stock. Whisk in cold butter to finish.

 

🍄 3. Garlic Mushroom Sauce

 

You’ll need:

  • 200g sliced mushrooms

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 100ml cream

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • Salt, pepper

 

How to make it:

Fry garlic and mushrooms in butter. Add cream, simmer until thick. Season well.
